MHCR Webinar Series Presents: The role of Apology, Repentance, and Forgiveness in Societal Transformation

On Wednesday, April 14th, the Mary Hoch Center for Reconciliation will be co-hosting the third event in our Spring Webinar Series: The role of Apology, Repentance, and Forgiveness in Societal Transformation alongside Religions for Peace from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM EST. At this event, you will have the opportunity to listen to agents of change from around the world who have been involved in and/or studied political apologies and social repentance efforts. This event will be separated into two panels.

Panel 1 will focus on international lessons learned while conducting work on political forgiveness.

This panel will be moderated by Professor Azza Karam of Religions for Peace.

Speakers will include:

Dr. Tecla Namachanja Wanjala- Former Vice Chair of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission of Kenya and nominee for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize

Shamsa Abubakar- Organizing Secretary of the Mombasa Women of Faith Network Inter- religious Council of Kenya

Archbishop Martin Blaise Nyaboho- Diocesan Bishop of Rutana Diocese in Anglican Church of Burundi

Panel 2 will focus on how US faith groups can support apology and repentance processes within the US.

This event will be moderated by Dr. Charles Davidson, a Professor at the Carter School as well as Director of the Carter School Political Leadership Academy.

Speakers will include:

Dr. Eileen Borris- World renowned political forgiveness expert and conflict resolution consultant

Anneke Rabe- South African community leader

Reggie James- US Evangelical Church leader and musician
